(representational image only) pSeries 640 Overview: Used RS6000 Pseries 640 eServers, 7026-B80. IBM SMP rack mount system using up to four 64-bit copper-based POWER3-II microprocessors running at 375 MHz. IBM model 7026-B80 The IBM eServer pSeries 640 (7026-B80) provides tools for managing e-business, new application flexibility, and innovative technology, all designed to help you capitalize on the e-business revolution. The pSeries 640 is a cost-effective, high-performance, UNIX server in a compact, rack-mounted chassis. This rugged system is ideal for environments such as ISP/ASP, e-commerce, telco/wireless, or scientific and technical computing where high density, rapid horizontal growth, and leading-edge UNIX performance are critical. The pSeries 640 is an excellent building block server for a variety of e-business applications. The IBM 7026 Model B80 is a pSeries 640 symmetric multiprocessor (SMP) that uses up to four, state-of-the-art, 64-bit, copper-based, POWER3-II microprocessors. Processor options include 1-way or 2-way 375 MHz processors with 4MB of Level 2 (L2) cache per processor, a 2-way 375 MHz processor with 8MB of L2 cache per processor, and a 2-way 450 MHz processor with 8MB of L2 cache per processor. The base 256 MB of main memory can be expanded to 16 GB for faster performance and exploitation of 64-bit addressing as used in large database applications. The pSeries 640 5U x 19-inch standard rack drawer is 24 inches deep and contains five bays, one of which is used for a 5.25-inch CD-ROM or tape drive. The remaining four front-accessible, hot-plug capable bays can accommodate up to 145.6 GB of disk storage. Multiple pSeries 640 drawers may be installed into standard IBM racks such as the RS/6000 Model T00. These racks may also house I/O disk storage such as, the IBM 2104 Expandable Storage Plus (Ultra SCSI) and IBM 7133 Serial Disk System (SSA), to provide terabytes of highly reliable, hot-swap capable external storage. The pSeries 640 is designed from the ground up for high-density environments. The four hot-swap capable disk drive bays are accessible from the front panel. All critical indicators are mounted on front and back bezels. There's a built-in serial interface for pervasive devices such as the IBM WorkPad that allows the pSeries 640 to be configured and managed remotely from a hand-held wireless device, using specialized IBM no-charge software (SNAPP/SwAPP). There is also a programmable alarm beacon to make it easy for the IT staff to locate a particular server requiring attention.
